Gomez, Lilly
A great soul serves everyone. All the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again & again. The soul of our dear Miss Lilly entered peacefully into eternal life at 80 years of age, from her Baton Rouge home on September 29th, 2016, in the arms of her daughter. Preceded in death by her parents, Blas and Amalia Gomez, her husband Jesus "Jesse" Gomez, son Jesse Gomez Jr., sisters Theresa Halayay & Margie Eclarin, and brother Deneceo Perez. A lifelong resident of Hollister, CA, Miss Lilly lived the latter years of her life in Clinton, MS and Baton Rouge, LA. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she is survived by her daughters and sons-in-laws Cecilia Marquez & husband Richard of Clinton, MS, and Amelia Goodman & husband Harry of Baton Rouge, LA. Also survived by her grandchildren Nick Ybarra of Clinton, MS, Heather DelReal Spiers of McComb, MS, Stephanie DelReal Vernon of Portland, OR, Rudy DelReal of Clinton, MS, Stacia Sanchez of Monterey, CA, Jesse Goodman and Joseph Goodman of Baton Rouge, LA. Great grandchildren Megan Ybarra, Cain Ybarra, Raclan Ybarra, Serenity Ybarra, Abby Ybarra, Sarah Scott, Olivia DelReal of Clinton, MS, and Daniel DelReal and Callie Spiers of McComb, MS. Lilly is also survived by her sister Josie Medina of San Jose, CA. She was also blessed to be Tia Lilly to numerous nieces and nephews. She loved and cared deeply for each and every one of them. Miss Lilly was a retired nurse's assistant having worked at Southside Nursing Home, Hazel Hawkins Hospital, Wheeler Hospital and as an office nurse assistant for an Ob-Gyn in Gilroy. In retirement, she became the donut maker at a local grocery store and a cashier at a local drug store, where she became affectionately known as "Miss Lilly" to Clinton patrons. She loved each one of her jobs and loved giving of herself and meeting new people. A lifelong Christian, she was of generous soul and spirit, and was fiercely devoted to her family and friends. She was a avid supporter of the Baler Band Boosters for each of her daughters, was the charter president of the Hollister Lioness club, and a lifelong San Francisco 49ers fan. Her favorite times were spent with family, friends and loved ones, and she was at her happiest when her entire family gathered together. Miss Lilly loved to cook for her family and friends and was known for making the absolute best chili rellenos and fresh hot salsa. Funeral services will be held at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home in Clinton, MS. Burial will take place at Calvary Sacred Heart Cemetary in Hollister, CA. Miss Lilly will be laid to eternal rest alongside her husband and son and precious dogs Jeannie & Mitzi, where they will forever be together. Our family would like to express our deepest thanks to all the physicians who gently cared for Miss Lilly, with special thanks to the Amedisis Home Hospice Care team for their compassionate, gentle and professional care, with special recognition to our dear, sweet Amedisis nurse Amy. God gave man work, not to burden him, but to bless him; and useful work, willingly, cheerfully, effectively done, has always been the finest expression of the human spirit.
