Obituaries from Two Days Ago

Garon, Janith Latil
Janith Latil Garon passed away Tuesday, November 29th at 11:26am. Born December 2, 1916. More than anything she wanted to celebrate her 100th birthday with family and friends; God had another plan. She was an only child born to Claude J. Latil and Lettie Pairque Latil. She graduated from Dufroque School, Baton Rouge High, and LSU. She taught several years at St. Joseph Academy, but her father's plea to come help in the family business, Latil Stationery & Office Supply, was too strong, so she and her husband Ivy eventualy joined Latil's and remained there for 50 years. Many schools and organizations benefited from their cooking and decorating skills- St. Agnes, Catholic High, Academy of Sacred Heart, CYO, Phi Kappa Theta to name a few. She was most proud of The Lifetime Achievement Award given to her at St. Joseph Cathedral. She was an all involved mom- President of PTA, Women's School Association, Fair Chairman, cafeteria worker, chauffer for many band members and ball players. Janith is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Lettie Latil; and husband, Ivy J. Garon; and granddaughter Michelle Latil Garon. She is survived by her son, Claude Garon, Ph.D., and wife Sally, of Hamilton, Mont.; daughter, Gay and husband Jim Boudreaux, of Baton Rouge; granddaughter, Anne and husband Brian Gannon, and their children, Jack and Ivy Gannon, of Lakeside, Mont.; and granddaughter, Julie Garon, Atlanta, GA. The family would like to thank St. James Place Staff and residents for making a home for Jan for 13 years. Special thanks to guardian angels, Martha Moss and Tawanda Lands for years of love and companionship. In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to Hospice of Baton Rouge, 9063 Siegen Ln. BR, LA. 70810 or a charity of choice. Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Cathedral on Saturday, December 3, 2016 beginning at 8am until Mass of Christian Burial at 9am, celebrated by Rev. Frank Uter. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Garden.

Graybar, Lynn Charpentier
Lynn Charpentier Graybar, age 69, passed away on October 17, 2016, at Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee, FL. She was born Dec. 5, 1946, and raised in Franklin, Louisiana, St. Mary Parish; then graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, with a degree in mathematics and accounting in 1969. She is survived by her husband Andrew Graybar; and her daughter, Monica Sonnier and husband Mike Sonnier, and their daughter Sarah of Pride, LA. Lynn has a step-daughter, Elizabeth Maust (and family) of West Linn, Oregon; and a step-son, Ben Graybar of Tallahassee, FL. She has a brother, Tom Charpentier, in Pensacola, FL. Her parents were Kate (Gianfala) and Alvin Charpentier of Franklin, LA. With an Italian mother, and Cajun French father, cooking was her delight. She was an avid tennis player in her younger days, with two dozen trophies earned as an adult. In Tallahassee, she loved to play golf, and struggled mightily to "break 100" a number of times. She would leave the house a bit earlier than her husband, and enjoyed waiving to him as she left with "his" golf cart to play with the ladies. She was a CPA, and Vice President and Tax Manager of United Companies in Louisiana, where she worked for a dozen years. At the time, United had 3,300 employees and was listed on the NYSE. While in Memphis, TN, she was Tax Manager with Ernst & Young; then joined the CPA firm of Law Redd Crona & Munroe, when she moved to Tallahassee in 1998. She retired from there in 2011. The family is very grateful to Rev. Michael Foley, Good Shepherd Catholic Church, for attending her at the hospice house. Sleeping softly, then it seems: Heaven enters in my dreams. Angels hover around me, Whispering they have found me. Memorial service Saturday Dec. 3, 2016 at Indian Mound Baptist Church, 16755 Liberty Rd., Greenwell Springs, LA. 70739. Visitation from 9am – 11am. Services at 11am.
