Lydia Marie Taylor, 61, passed away Monday morning, May 5, 2014, at her home. She was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Baton Rouge. She was an alumna of Southern University and a member of the Alpha Tau Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta. She was a retired social worker with Operation Hope, Inc. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014, at First Emmanuel Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Henry J. Brown. Delta Omega Omega starts at 11 a.m. and memorial/service thereafter. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Baton Rouge. Survivors include her mother, Thelma Berry; daughter Samantha Taylor; sister Elizabeth Taylor-Chapman; brother Christopher E. Taylor Sr.; and special pet, Maximus. She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel E. Taylor; sister, Alma Jean Hunter; and brother, Dale Taylor.
