A native and resident of Plaquemine, he passed away Monday morning, Jan. 14, 2013 at Baton Rouge General - Bluebonnet. He was 56, an Iberville Parish Building Inspector. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home, Plaquemine, on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 from 9 to 11:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plaquemine, at noon conducted by Rev. Cleo J. Milano. Interment in Grace Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Inez ""Innie"" Dupree Hernandez; 2 daughters, Lindsay Hernandez and Lacey Hernandez; 1 son, Brandon Hernandez; 1 sister, Jessica Little and husband Edmund; 2 brothers, William ""Bill"" Hernandez and wife Harriet, and John Hernandez; 3 grandchildren, Bailey Merritt, Garrett Merritt and Grace Hernandez; mother-in-law, Joyce Dupre; sister-in-law, Suzanne ""Sue' Curry and husband Dennis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, William and Dolores Hernandez; brother, Jesse Paul Hernandez; and father-in-law, Garrett Dupre. He was a 1974 graduate of Plaquemine High School. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He was a man of character and integrity, always willing to lend a helping hand, and always bringing a smile to our faces.
