Col. Camile J. Chaisson, Jr., passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014 at the age of 83 years. He was a native of Thibodaux, LA and resident of Kenner, LA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Camile J. Chaisson and Inez Martinez; his first wife, Marie Hoffman Chiasson; daughter, Eugenie Marie Chiasson; brother, Neddie Chiasson; sister, Daisy Chiasson Ledet. He is survived by second wife, Margorie Nobles Chaisson of 35 years; son, Dr. Camile L. Chiasson and his wife Jeanne Peltier Chiasson; three granddaughters, Ann Marie Chiasson Currie and her husband Brian Currie, Stephanie Chiasson Toups and her husband Dr. Justin Toups, Jamie Chiasson Mutter and her husband Brett Mutter. He was the great-grandfather of Adrienne, Jacob, and Andrew Currie, Paul, Rebecca, William, Elizabeth and, Catherine Toups and Luke Mutter. Funeral will be at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux, LA on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 12 noon. Visitation will be from 8:00 am until funeral time. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux, LA. Chaisson was a graduate of L.T. High School and Louisiana State University, where he earned a B.S. degree and an M.S. degree. Chaisson is a former schoolteacher and Principal of 31 years in Lafourche Parish and St. Charles Parish. Col Chaisson has dedicated 31 years of military service to active duty and to the Louisiana State National Guard. In addition to many service schools, he was a graduate of the C and G's College at Fort Leavenworth and The United States Army War College. He served in Korea in 1952-53, where he earned the Combat Infantryma's Badge, Presidential Unit Citation, United Nations Ribbon, Korean Service Ribbon, Occupation of Japan Ribbon, and Army Commendation Ribbon in addition to several Louisiana State Service Medals. Col. Chaisson has 29 years of active service with Kiwanis Club of Third District serving as various officers of that organization. He was also a member of the Teachers' Retirement System, Louisiana State Employee Retirement System, Society of the 3rd Infantry Division, and the 7th Infantry Regent Association.
