Edward "Eddie" Scottie Gunby, a native of Baton Rouge and resident of Port Vincent, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013. Born on July 20, 1949, he was 64 years old. He was a decorated US Army Veteran who served in Vietnam and a long haul truck driver who retired from Groendyke Transportation. He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Kleinpeter; three children and their spouses, Scottie & Anna Gunby, Candice and Neal Sanders, and Susan Caroline Gunby; wife, Linda Gunby; two brothers, Jeff and Byron Gunby; seven grandchildren, Paul, Brandon, Keeghan, and Abby Gunby, Madison and Bryce Sanders, and Katelyn Vampran; and his "honorary" grandchildren, Corey, Chris, Aimee, Bailey, Justin, Dustin, Brandy, Bucko, and Mason. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifton Gunby; sister, Judy Whitaker; and a granddaughter, Mercedes Sanders. A memorial gathering will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 from 6 pm until 9 pm. Gathering will resume on Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 10 am until 11 am.
