Robert (Bob) Brooks, 61, of Charlotte, passed away Tuesday Sept. 10, 2013. He was born in Baton Rouge, LA, on June 7, 1952 to John Calvin and Eva Schmieder Brooks. Bob graduated from Broadmoor Senior High School (1970) and received a Bachelor of Science from Troy State University, Montgomery, in Computer Science in 1978. He was married to Susan Lander Brooks on April 20, 1985. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1973 and was honorably discharged as Sergeant in 1979. He formed his own computer company (Validata), worked for Litton Data Systems, Northrop Grumman, Simulation Sciences (SimSci), Citigroup, Bank of America and Diebold. He was an avid pilot and flew his own twin-engine airplane for many years with two trips to Mexico and numerous flights cross-country from Los Angeles to Florida. He also was the proud owner of a Heritage Softail Harley Davidson motorcycle on which he enjoyed many hours of riding. He had a tremendous love of music and a wonderful sense of humor. He was survived by his wife of 28 years, Susan, 2 DAUGHTERS: Erin Brooks Driscoll, 39 (Steve Driscoll) of Charlotte, NC & Diana Lynne Fehr, 33 (Jason Fehr) of Palm Bay, FL; 5 GRANDCHILDREN: Drew Michael Goldman (15), Logan Harley Driscoll (4), Lucas Robert Driscoll (18 months), Liam Alexander Driscoll (6 weeks) of Charlotte and Jaylyn Reese Fehr (4) of Palm Bay; 2 SISTERS: Laura Lapham (Jimmy Lapham) and Joy Bielitz (Wayne Bielitz) of Baton Rouge, LA. and several Nephews and a Niece. He was previously deceased by his parents John and Eva Brooks, and a sister Melody (Jeannie) Sublett. His family greeted friends on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, from 1-2 p.m. at McEwen-Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road, Charlotte, NC, followed by his funeral at 2p.m. A catered reception followed in the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Ft. Meade, FL. Condolences to the family may be offered at www.mcewenpinevillechapel.com.
