A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Troy W. Chiek, went to be with the Lord on August 18, 2014, at the age of 81. He was an exceptional football player, having played at Catholic High and was awarded all-state for Baton Rouge High. He later went on to play for Tulane University, as well as the US Marine Corp football team. He was also a member of the LSU boxing team. He proudly served in the Marines during the Korean Conflict. Troy was called as a Lay minister, having ministered in several local churches, and had a special gift of couples counseling. He also enjoyed prison ministry and was a long time member of Prison Fellowship Ministries. He also worked in the banking industry for over 20 years, retiring from Chase Bank. He enjoyed fishing, football, carpentry, and photography, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Having just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, he is survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart, Delma South Chiek; three daughters, Janet McKinley and husband, David of Picayune, MS, Linda McVea and husband, Mac of Baker, LA, and Donna Lessard and husband Keith of Central, LA; one son, Steve Chiek and wife, Gloria of Central, LA; seven grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Lucille Chiek; and grandson, Dustin Troy Brown. The family would like to thank all his friends and family for their prayers and visits in the past few months and a special thanks to the ladies at Hospice Compassus for their compassion and concern. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, from 5 PM until 8 PM and will resume on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, from 12 PM until funeral service at 2 PM. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
