A homemaker and a resident of Baton Rouge, she died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City. She was 49 and a native of Orange, Texas. Visiting at Wilson-Wooddale Funeral Home, 1553 Wooddale Blvd., on Sunday, March 22, from noon until service at 2 p.m., conducted by James Harthoorn, pastor. Interment in Hemphill, Texas. Survived by her father, Ersel Ray Broom, of Brenham, Texas; two daughters, Meagan Cotton and husband Michael, of Denham Springs, and Lydia Rose Broom, of Bartlesville, Okla.; three sisters, Rebecca Valois, of Fairfax, Va., Kathryn Ann Broom, of Bartlesville, and Gayla Bly, of Houston; and grandchild, Gabriel Cotton. Preceded in death by her mother, Joann Marceaux-Broom Elam.
