Benny P. Drago Sr., went to be with his love of 67 years, Katherine Polito "Katie" Drago on May 27, 2012 at the age of 93. A native and resident of Baton Rouge, he operated Benny's Bar and Lounge for many years, then worked at The Bellemont Hotel for over 5 years and lastly worked at Reeve's Supermarket for several years before retiring. He is survived by two daughters, Marie and husband Joe Smith, and Theresa Drago Stewart; one son, Benny P. Drago Jr. and wife Denise; eight grandchildren, Michelle and husband Paul Russo, Kristi and husband Scott Smith, Erik Smith and wife Michelle, Belinda and husband Josh Merritt, Kelli and husband Blake Bottger, Stephen Drago and wife Christy, and Christopher and Matthew Drago; eight great-grandchildren, Lauryn, Ryan, and Jordyn Russo, Jason and Matthew Smith, Beverly and Thomas Smith, and Riley Bottger. Preceded in death by his parents, William and Ida Drago; three sisters, Virginia Dimattia, Rosie Viverata; an infant sister, Ida Drago; and six brothers, Joseph, Frank, Vincent, Anthony, William Jr., and Sam Drago. Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 5 pm until 8 pm and will resume on Thursday, May 31 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He was a proud graduate of Catholic High School, class of 1937. The family would like to thank Nottingham Regional Rehab Center, Hospice in His Care, and especially Martha and Frank Wilson for their love and care. Benny loved to fish, go to the casino, and spend time with family. He will be missed by all who knew him. Please visit to leave condolences to the family.
