Jo Anne Armand passed away at Grace Home of St. Francis Cabrini Hospital on November 27, 2012. Jo Anne fought a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer for over five months. A woman of great faith and independence, she never once complained about her illness or asked, "Why me?" Her focus constantly remained on the same - her concern for her family. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2012 with the Rev. Scott Chemino officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In her professional life of forty years, Jo Anne became a successful business woman. She worked for Commercial Securities of Bunkie, becoming assistant manager and ultimately manager in 1995. She opened Cenla Finance before retiring in 2008. In her private life, Jo Anne loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. As those who sat at her kitchen table or dining room table will attest, her culinary skills at preparing holiday meals were beyond reproach. Jo Anne was preceded in death by her step-father and mother, Louis and Theresa Armand; her grandmother, Elephile Juneau; uncles, Houston, Noah, Sam, Perry, and Roy Juneau; two aunts, Edna Rabalais and Essie Rivers. Those left to mourn and cherish her memory are Leonard Armand of Eola; her son, Travis of Bunkie; her brother Nolan L. Ducote and his wife Theresa of Hessmer; her sisters-in-law, Mary Lanero and Irene Armand of Metairie; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family extends very much appreciation to friends and family members who prayed, prepared meals, and made visits during Jo Anne's illness. A very special "thank you" is extended to Dr. and Mrs. Don Hines, Dr. Ulla Ule, Dr. Kelly Letsinger, Mary Hood, FNP, the staff of Grace Home in Alexandria, M'Lee Eves, Ramona Rivers, Susie Redmon, and Jo Anne's "sister", Mary Lanero.
