Mabel Thorpe Bergeron, 85, a native of Oldham, England, and a resident of Greenwell Springs, LA, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012. Having met her husband Louis during World War II, she married him on October 20, 1944. She came to the United States through Ellis Island in March of 1947 with her 6-month-old son, Stephen. Her volunteer work and involvement in the community was seen at the Baton Rouge General, The West Baton Rouge Garden Club, The Women's Auxiliary, The Council on Aging and St. James Episcopal Church. She is survived by her children: Frances Ann Richard and husband David, Suzanne Bergeron, and Lois Elaine Adams and husband Doyle; grandchildren: Monika Harris, Todd Jackson, Stephen Bergeron, Jr., Paul Bergeron, Melanie Adams, Jonathan Adams and Patrick Adams; great grandchildren: Luke Jackson, Cooper Harris, Alexsandra Jackson, Andrew Harris, Michael and Anna Claire Gremillion, and Garrett Adams; and loving and devoted friend, Cynthia Pittman. She is preceded by her husband, Louis Bergeron; son, Stephen Bergeron; parents, Simeon and Fanny Hunt Thorpe; and siblings: Elise, Fienda, Simeon, Irene, Evelyn, Mavis and Dennis. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Sunday, October 28, 2012 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will continue on Monday, October 29, 2012 from 9 a.m. until time of services at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be David Richard, Todd Jackson, Jonathan Adams, Patrick Adams, Luke Jackson and Cooper Harris.
