A resident of Central, died at 11:40 a.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at his home. He was born February 25, 1956 in Baton Rouge and was 58 years of age. He was a USMC veteran during Vietnam. He was also a retired boilermaker from #582 and loved to travel with his job, meeting new friends, cooking, gardening and visiting with relatives and friends. Survived by 2 sisters, Saundra Roper, Tallahassee, FL and Beth Rossman, Greenwell Springs; brother, Mark Garner, Central and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Phillips Irwin Garner, Sr. and Aline Strickland Garner and sister, Carolyn Ann Garner. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., Thursday and from 8 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2014. Services conducted by Rev. Tim Boswell.
