Latham Edwards Obituary

A loving and devoted, faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, Latham B. (Birch) Edwards passed from this life June 19, 2013 at his home in Central. He was born May 16, 1930 to Jessie T. Edwards and Alice Lovett Edwards. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Allen, Jules, and Earnest Edwards and a sister, Ellamae Edwards Nickens. He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Lola Cotton Edwards, a brother, Wallace Edwards, three sons and one daughter, Daniel B. Edwards and his wife Shayne of Baton Rouge, Charles J. Edwards and his wifeToni of Prairieville, Benjamin J. Edwards of Central, and Charlene Edwards Henderson and her husband Tommy of Watson. He was blessed with seven grandchildren, Derek, Daniela and Jolie Edwards, Joshua Henderson, April Watson and her husband Kyle, and Brennon and Jade Wax. He was eagerly awaiting the birth of his first great-grandchild. He was a proud Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a life-long member of Zoar Baptist Church, an ordained Deacon, and Sunday School teacher. He was a youth baseball and football coach with CAYL and was a proud member of the first football team at Central High School. During his life, he worked for Uniroyal Chemicals, and later was owner of Edwards Medical Transportation Service until his retirement. His love for the Lord and family was genuine, and during a brief battle with cancer, he was able to share his faith and hope with gracious dignity. Visitation and services will be held at Zoar Baptist Church in Central from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday evening, June 21, 2013 . Additional visitation will occur Saturday, June 22, 2013 beginning at 10:00 AM until religious services conducted by Dr. Kevin Hand, Pastor of Zoar Baptist Church, at 11:00 AM. “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” Galatians 2:20. “Peace I leave with you; My peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” John 14:27.

I miss you Dad. Thank you for showing me how to live and submit to God in all things. I will see you again one day. -Danny
