Dusty Brouillette Obituary

Dusty left this life on Sunday, November 4, 2012 in St. Francisville at the age of 32. He was a loan originator, a native of Baton Rouge and a graduate of Bishop Sullivan High School. A gifted athlete who excelled at any sport he played, he had a sharp and tenacious mind that could accomplish any challenge he set his mind to. He was a charming, warm, and funny person that won the admiration and friendship from those that met him, and a natural leader that people were drawn to. His leadership abilities drew him to the Army National Guard where he excelled as a soldier and quickly rose to the rank of Sergeant. He proudly served his country in Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 256th BTSB in Iraq. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal during his deployment. Those that he served under respected his abilities so much so that they entrusted him with responsibilities beyond his rank. Those that served with him looked up to him as a leader and counted on him as a friend. He is survived by his mother, Joni Simms Miller, step-father, Brian T Miller, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Jason and Courtney Brouillette, Nashville, TN, and Dylan Miller, Baton Rouge, a nephew, Patrick Brouillette, and a niece, Eliza Brouillette, both of Nashville, grandparents, Lloyd and Geri Simms, and Harriet Babin Miller, all of Baton Rouge, and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins. Preceded in death by his father Darrel Brouillette, an uncle, Gary Simms, grandparents Arthur and Vera Brouillette, and Paul E Miller. Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 17, from 9:00 am to 11:30 am at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial begins at 11:30 am followed by burial at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be Garrett Simms, Ben Simms, Hank Schopfer, Miles Schopfer, Christopher Schopfer, Tre' Simms, Daniel Brumley, and Jimmy Watkins. Please visit www.resthavenbatonrouge.com to sign the online guestbook.

I thought of you today, but that is nothing new.
I thought about you yesterday and days before that too.
I think of you in silence, I often speak your name.
All I have are memories and your picture in a frame.
Your memory is a keepsake from which I'll never part.
God has you in his arms, I have you in my heart.

Yesterday I stopped by the MBS church to offer my support and sympathy with the loss of Dusty. However, I was and still am at a loss to find the right words to help ease your pain. May God comfort you during the times when you feel your heart will break. Heaven is a GLORIOUS place where I am CERTAIN Dusty is sitting next to Jesus. He is now your angel ...

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to SGT Dusty Andrew Broullette our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Dusty. And to Dusty it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for his service in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and for the selfless sacrifices he made for his country while serving with the U.S. Army and the Louisiana National Guard. No greater love and patriotism is shown than a man dedicate his life in service to his country. Dusty, you are a brave Army Warrior and a true Patriot. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Dusty's family and loved ones.

Stephen J. Lavery, Commander, American Legion Post 14

Although, I never had the pleasure of meeting Dusty it seems the word "amazing" best describes him! It looks like he achieved at all he attempted. I'm guessing he got his competitive spirit from his Mother, Joni which stirred his desire to be a winner!

Love and prayers to Dusty's loving family! Please take comfort knowing he is in the loving arms of our Father! Love you Miller Family!
