Kelsey P. Hymel was born in St. James, LA on December 4, 1931 and passed away at home in Vacherie, LA on January 7, 2013 at 6:40 a.m. He was the loving husband of Augustine "Teen" Marse Hymel for 57 years. He is survived by his children: Geralyn H. Becnel (Husband Bryon), Connie H. Morvant (husband Benton); Grandchildren: Heidi B. Martinez (husband Robby), Shawn Becnel (fiancee) Nicole Poche), and Robert Morvant; Great-granddaughter Allie Martinez, and sisters-in-law, Claire Gauthreaux, Janice Hymel, and Doon Marse. He is also survived by his brothers: Eddie J. Hymel (wife Grace), and Herman J. Hymel; sisters: Audrey H. Becnel (husband Jimmie), Carlyn H. Kliebert (husband A.J.), Sylvia H. Bourgeois (husband Lionel), Janet H. Ponson (husband Carroll) and Jane H. Rivere. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jules and Lucella Loup Hymel, and a brother, Warren P. Hymel. He was a member of KC Council 1514, a Korean War Veteran, and a retiree from Monsanto after 30 years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to The National Shrine of Blessed Francis Seelos, 919 Josephine St., New Orleans, LA 70130 or St. Joseph Hospice, Bayou Region, 103 Ridgefield Rd., Thibodaux, LA 70301. Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Peace Church, Vacherie, LA on Thursday, January 10, 2013 beginning at 8:00 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum in the Church Cemetery.
