I am so fortunate to have seen Mr. Edwards twice last year, after 40 plus years. He was an inspiration to me and many others, as well. His family and friends know how great a gift he was on earth, and will continue in heaven. - Bo Walters (Houston, Tx.)

I was truly saddened to hear of his passing. He treated all of us Troopers as if we were all his sons. He was a class act, and we are all a little less without him. He lived life large.
Please accept my condolences.

On behalf of the Allan Edwards family of Arkansas, please accept our deepest sympathies at the loss of Uncle Marion. To us, he was the most thoughtful and kind Uncle of all. Our mother, 92, deeply appreciated his thoughtful calls and loving messages in the years after our father's passing. His love for our father is still in our hearts. Penny, we keep you in our prayers as you touched our hearts with your joyous attitude and kindnesses. He was alight with love for you. Without a doubt, it was written on his heart and shown through his eyes every time he spoke of you. Thank you for the joy you gave him and the dedication with which you served him in his final days. You gave him real happiness. We will miss him.

Mr. Edwards seemed like a person who lived his life to the fullest. Now he's asleep hoping to hear the words Lazarus heard when Jesus resurrected him saying"Lazarus come out" meaning the grave. So for now rest in peace.

I was very saddened to hear about Marion passing away. He was a longtime special friend. We had a great time together every time he was around. I know he will be greatly missed, especially by all his family and good friends. One of his greatest assets was the way he related to people. Anytime he would walk into a room of people the entire room would change due to his presence. It is comforting to know that Marion will have many tomorrows.

To Governor Edwards and the Edwards Family:
I extend our prayers and condolences upon learning of the death of your brother, Marion. I am one of those he helped. To use a quote you told me years ago, "you never asked for anything for yourself - - it was always for someone else. That describes Marion. When he wanted to see you,he would say, let's get together and break bread". TThere were many spirited talks about breaking bread together on our knees, and facing the rising sun. We celebrate his life with prayers on our knees. Because of the memories of Marion, the sun will always rise and we will cherish his life on earth.

Penny, Wanda, Beth, Donna and extended family,
You have my deepest sympathy on the death of your husband and father. I know how important Marion was in your lives and your love, care and support must have brought him great comfort. Your relationship was quite special and while this makes the loss so very painful, I do believe that your closeness and warm memories will bring you comfort. Marion possessed the unique ability to bring laughter and joy everywhere he went and to everyone he encountered. Know that I am praying for you all and Marion.

While I only had the opportunity to meet Mr. Edwards on a couple of occasions, I feel compelled to share how thoughtful and encouraging he was after my Mother learned of being diagnosed with cancer a little over 14 years ago. Having mutual friends who made Mr. Edwards aware of her diagnosis, Mr. Edwards took it upon himself to make a personal phone call of encouragement to my Mother, recommending that even if all seemed lost, she should at least journey to MD Anderson for an opinion. Most importantly, here was a man who didn't know us, but who felt compelled to reach out and share his knowledge and tender care. In our world today there are far too few people willing to share so much of themselves with people they don't know. His comfort was immeasurable to our family and, therefore, we send our thoughts and prayers to his family during this time. May you rejoice knowing you will be reunited with Him in the glory of God's heaven.
