Nell Brewer Russell passed away peacefully at The Guest House Nursing Home, Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge, at 10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, and went on to see her Father in Heaven. She was 79, born Dec. 10, 1933. Nell was a native of Jayess, Miss., and longtime resident of Denham Springs. She was a dear and loving wife of Johnny C. Russell, Sr., for more than 60 years. Nell was a longtime member of Stevendale Baptist Church, Baton Rouge, and an auxiliary member of The Gideons International for more than 25 years. Nell is survived by her husband, John C. Russell, Sr.; son, Johnny C. Russell, Jr. and wife Sarah; and daughter, Pamala Harris; five grandchildren, Jamie Mascarella, Jeremy Mascarella and wife Anistasia, Christi Ward and husband Ray, Dawnyail Faldetta and husband Mark, and Johnny C. Russell III and wife Alona; 12 great-grandchildren, Julian Mascarella, Melania Mascarella, Billy Mayo, Brandon Ward, Bradley Ward, Lyric Faldetta, Zack Faldetta, Julia Faldetta, Dylan Herring, Alara Russell, Johnny Cayden Russell, Kayla Quinn and husband Cory; great-great-grandchild, Cohen Quinn; six sisters, Chris Powell and husband Durward, Evelyn Beard, Linda Avo and husband Lee, Dimple Galloway, Ellen Wesenberg and Opal Boeneke; four brothers, C.J. Brewer and wife Mary, Hoyt Beard, Rex Beard and wife Millie, Mitchel Beard and wife Fay; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Nell was preceded in death by her parents, Della and Chorbitt Brewer; stepfather, Printiss Beard; and son, Randy L. Russell. Visiting on Saturday, Feb. 2, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. at Jones Family Funeral Services, 905 Park Drive, McComb, Miss., (601) 684-7070.
