Oresta Frances Drude Pevey May 5, 1933 - April 28, 2013. Oresta Pevey, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 28, 2013. She was born and raised in Ponchatoula, LA. The daughter of Merlin and Doris Drude and older sister of Muriel Cassibry and Robert Drude. For 59 years, she was the loving wife of Reggie Pevey. Dear mother of three daughters: Janet, husband Terrill Collier; Diane, husband Terry Pepitone; and Susan, husband Tim McHugh. Also mother to four sons: Paul, wife Angela; John, wife Terri; David, wife Jeanette; and Dennis, wife Jerri. Honored and adored grandmother of 25, great-grandmother of 11 and friend to many, many more. She graduated from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing. She worked at Seventh Ward and Lallie Kemp hospitals. She also worked as Head Nurse at the Kemp Street Nursing Home. She continued her nurturing skills as she followed Reggie in his real estate career, helping many young families start their lives together. After retirement, she and Reggie enjoyed many trips together, their favorite being Oregon. Her devotion to family and faith will live in our hearts for generations. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances be made in Oresta Pevey's name to the St. Joseph Catholic Church "Generation to Generation" fund. Friends will be received Wednesday, May 1, 2013 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ponchatoula. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am on Wednesday, with Fr. Cayet Mangiaracina, O.P. officiating. Interment will follow in the Ponchatoula Cemetery Mausoleum. A guest book is available at www.harrymckneely.com.
