Joy is not the absence of pain, but the presence of Christ. Eleanor Gale Adams Alexander's love for Christ was evident in her life and that of her family. Even as Gale battled cancer, she made her faith known to everyone around her. She was born September 29th, 1950 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was not only a loving wife and mother to two beautiful daughters, but was also a caretaker. Gale joined her beloved husband, Bentley, in the arms of Christ at her home surrounded by friends and family on Saturday, June 8, 2013. She was 62 years of age. Having ascended into Heaven, Gale has now joined her parents, Joan and Wright Adams and her birth mother, Eleanor Spiller, in the joy and peace of Christ. Gale graduated from Tulane University with a Bachelor degree in Art. She was constantly using her talent in calligraphy to create beautiful scripture pieces. She also loved movies, particularly Woody Allen. Some of Gale's favorite pastimes were blueberry picking, playing gin rummy, travelling to Cozumel, and discovering new health foods. But above all, Gale cherished her church, First Baptist Church of Clinton, Louisiana and her many brothers and sisters in Christ. Gale is survived by her daughters, Lydia and Hannah Alexander, her sisters, Margaret Meyer and Joanie Kulage, and her brothers, Mark and Wade Adams. Thank you to all of her loving friends and family who supported her throughout her life and were her strength and support during her courageous battle with cancer; especially to her devoted caretakers, her cousin, Trish Schindler, and her friend, Claire Castleberry. Services will be held at Rabenhorst East 11000 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, La 70815. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, from 6-8pm. The funeral service will be Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 3pm with a two-hour visitation preceding the service. Dr. Fred Malone and Pastor Mark LaCour will be leading the services.

Hannah and Lydia, your mother was a fun, creative, and loving Christian woman and I so enjoyed her friendship. I am comforted to know she is in Heaven now with your dad and our Lord Jesus. She did beat the cancer - He delivered her from it. My thoughts and prayers are with you both and the rest of your family. If you need anything, I am right here.

I spoke with Gale about a month before she died. We had not seen each other in about 10 years so we caught up on each other's lives. She was completely upbeat and said she was doing great. Not once did she complain. For several years my family stayed Saturday nights with her family and attended FBC Clinton together. Gale was a very very giving person and loved Christ above all. I am sad that I did not keep in touch with her those 10 years. But at least I know we will meet again in heaven! I am blessed to have known her.

Dear Margaret, Wade, Joanie and Mark,
Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of your very sweet sister. Gale and I first met when I had just moved to Baton Rouge in 1955 and your Dad was building our house. We continued our friendship upon entering LaSalle.....many sleep overs and birthday parties...and on through Westdale and BRHS...to enjoy our creative interests in the Art Club together. I ran into Gale a few years ago during one of my infrequent visits to Baton Rouge and was so happy to chat about the past. It was as if no time had passed at all.
You are all in my prayers.
