Alcide "Jay" Barrios, 90, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at The Carpenter House. A resident of Baton Rouge, La. and a native of Thibodaux, La. Jay proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII and retired as Principal of Istrouma Junior High School in 1980. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 3331. He is survived by his loving wife, Bernice L. Barrios; daughter, Aliece B. Watts and husband J.D.; three sons, Emile Barrios and wife CeeCee, Donald C. Barrios and wife Angie, and Arthur J. Barrios and wife Kristin; sister, Jeannie B. Zerangue and husband Ralph; brothers, Roy J. Barrios and wife Lorena, and Philip Barrios; seven grandchildren, Brian Barrios, Daniel Barrios and wife Niki, Steven Barrios, Eric Barrios, Joshua Barrios, Brittany Barrios, and Jacob Barrios; great-granddaughter, Natalie Barrios; three step grandchildren, Troy Watts, Danielle Blanchard, and Matthew Blanchard. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alcide E. and Ulphrozine Barrios; and two sisters, Aline B. Picou and Marion B. Robichau. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Friends and family are invited on Saturday, September 7, 2013 to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 12424 Brogdon Lane, Baton Rouge, to a Rosary at 8:30 am. Visiting will continue afterwards until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am conducted by Rev. Jerry Martin. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. So sorry to hear about the death of Mr. Jay. I have such fond memories of his kindness to my grandmother, Lily Morgan when everyone lived on Howell Park. I also remember his laughter as we played on the swing set and played ping pong on the back patio. You all will be in my prayers.
