Elton Luther Easley, a native of St. Helena Parish and resident of Central passed away on October 12, 2013. He was 77 and was very proud to have served our country including two years in South Korea in the US Army. After his return he continued to serve in the Army Reserve rising to the rank of Sargent First Class and retiring after 37 years. He was also proud to have worked in the Louisiana Department of Highways from which he retired with 30 years of service. Elton had a special love of family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him. He immensely enjoyed being a cattleman and spent many of his post-retirement days tending his farm with the peace and joy God wishes for all of us. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marcia Moschitta Easley, five sons, Michael Easley and Suzette Sweeney Polito, Mark Easley, Steven Easley and wife Stacy, Scott Easley and wife Joanna and Todd Easley and wife Bridget. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Nicole Easley Farrell and husband Josh, Lee, Luke, Dylan, Chase, Rachel and Jackson Easley, four step-grandchildren, Kaylen Rabalais, Joseph, Kayla and Adam Navarre, two great-grandchildren, Adalyn and Boden Farrell, a sister, Bessie Blanchard and husband Ernest, three brothers, James and wife Katherine, Lester and wife Beverly and Will and wife Dot and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents Jimmy and Jewel Easley and in-laws John and Velma Moschitta. Visitation will be Monday, October 14, 2013 at Seale Funeral Home 9995 Hooper Rd, Central, LA from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will continue Tuesday, October 15, 2013 from 10:00 am until religous services at 11:30 am at New Zion Baptist Church, 3841 Hwy 38, Kentwood, LA, 70444. Pallbearers Lee, Luke, Dylan, Chase, Brennan and Dale Easley, Vernon Wagner and Josh Farrell. Honorary pallbearer Jackson Easley. The family wishes to thank Bridgeway Hospice, Dr. Patrick Stagg and especially dear friend Dr. Stephen Antrobus for their compassionate caring efforts. The family appreciates the condolences and kind words from everyone who knew or knew of Elton and kindly request in lieu of flowers donations be made in his honor to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.
