A resident of Erath, La. died at the age of 98 on January 12, 2014. She passed away in her home after a long and happy life. Services will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath, Louisiana on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 with visitation at 10:00a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00p.m., celebrated by Father William Melancon. Mrs. Segura was born on July 4, 1915 in Delcambre, La. At the home of her parents Pierre and Ada Landry Chastant. She was the wife of James Mayo Segura, Jr. for 48 yrs. Her life was spent devoting her time and care to her husband, children, family and her home. She was an active member of her church and a member of the Ladies Alter Society. Mrs. Segura was a charter member of the Demi Tasse Club and also enjoyed playing cards with friends. She was a loving, giving and kind mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Segura died at her home after suffering many years from complications brought on by a broken hip. She is survived by her son James Mayo Segura, III and his wife Jeanell L. Segura of Erath, her daughters Sandra S. Roy and husband Gerald Roy, of Broussard, and Cynthia S. Chauvin and husband Archie O. Chauvin of Lydia. She has 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren along with a sister-in law, Lois W. Chastant of New Iberia, La., and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband James Mayo Segura, Jr. Also her parents Pierre and Ada Chastant, a sister Ruby Cashen and her husband J. Pershing, all of Delcambre, La., and a brother Gerald P. Chastant, of New Iberia, La., as well as her great-granddaughter Claire Briggs of Mobile, Ala. Serving as pallbearers will be James M. Segura, IV, Dave Roy, John Chauvin, Joey Cashen, Dr. Terry Segura and Gerald P. Chastant, Jr. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Bart Briggs, Jerome Payau, Tom Piggot, Walter Hildalgo, Jr., Patrick Tucker, Brian Holasek and Douglas Summerlin. The family would like to thank Jeanette Conner, Christine Bourque, and Russella Guillotte for the loving care and assistance they provided during Mrs. Segura's time of need. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be made to Hospice of Acadiana. You may sign the guest register book and express condolences online at www.davidfuneralhome.org.
