A resident of Plaquemine, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 9:55 a.m. at St. Joseph Hospice Carpenter House. He was a 1965 graduate of Iberville High School and retired from the U.S. Army as a SP-4. After being honorably discharged, he received a Purple Heart and metals for expert file, Vietnam campaign, national defense and good conduct. Visitation at Pugh's Mortuary, 58233 Plaquemine Street, Plaquemine from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2014. Visitation resumes Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 9 a.m. until religious service at 12 noon at St. Joseph Baptist Church, 58105 Captain T.T. Harris Street, Plaquemine, La., conducted by Pastor Ronald Johnson. Interment in Grace Memorial Park. He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years Bobbie R. Hines Brown; Children and spouse Willie Jr. (Melissa) Brown, Alex (Lajuana) Brown, Cassandra Brown, Wilrena (Norman) Scott, Angela D. Brown, Lester (Angela) Brown; two sisters, Verna Lee Davis and Dela Mae Williams; a brother Lester H. Brown; uncle-in-law, Rev. Sanders (Mary) Wilson; two god-children, Benjuiel Johnson and Shelton Hines; Twenty one grandchildren; a grandson whom he reared, Christopher Brown and a great granddaughter, Ariel Brown and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice and Thomas Brown, Jr.; sister Annie Lee Grass; three brothers, Robert Sr., Thomas III, and Leroy Brown; a son Christopher Thomas Brown. The Family wishes to thank the staff of Baton Rouge General (Mid-City) 4 west and 2 east and St. Joseph Hospice Carpenter House for the upmost care given.
