Monday afternoon, God sent His Angels down to bring Mary home to be with Him. A native of Omaha, NE, and a 54 year resident of Baton Rouge, she passed away peacefully at the age of 98. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years Frank J. Pivonka; son, Gerald Pivonka; parents, John and Anna Bona; and four siblings. She is survived by her children; Mary Ann Smart (Ron) of Sacramento, CA, and Patricia Graham (Rick) of Baton Rouge; Grandchildren, Michael McCarthy (Kristen), Christa McCarthy, Brian McCarthy (Tonja) of Sacramento, CA and Matthew Graham, Danielle Claudet (Christopher), and Ryan Graham of Baton Rouge, six great-grandchildren; and brother Rev. Joseph F. Bona, SJ of Denver, CO. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at St Jude Catholic Church (9150 Highland Rd, Baton Rouge) from 9:30 AM until Rosary at 11:00 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 AM officiated by Rev. David Allen. Burial will follow at Port Hudson National Cemetery. Pat, I remember the first time I met your Mom...she and Ryan, probably 9 or 10 years old, were playing bingo at the St. Jude fair. I know she loved those kids! Y'all were all so devoted to her. I know she will be missed.
