A loving mother and grandmother, she passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. Mary Alice was born in Atlanta, GA on January 22, 1927. She resided in Baton Rouge where she raised her family and then later moved to Denham Springs. Mary Alice lived her life in devotion to her family and church. She was a school bus driver for the East Baton Rouge Parish School system and a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She is survived by her children, Glen Poché and his wife Susan, Lester Poché and his wife Cathy, and daughter Lynette Poché Moran; 10 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Leonard J. Poché, Sr.; son, Leonard J. Poché, Jr.; parents, William Harry Eckels and Elizabeth Nora Aucoin Eckels. Special thanks to granddaughters, Lauren Moran and Amanda Walden for their loving care. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, Monday, March 10, 2014 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Visitation will resume Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Denham Springs, from 1:00pm until the Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00pm, conducted by the Rev. Frank Uter. Your mother was a wonderful, Christian lady and I am so glad that I met her through the Catholic Daughters. I know that she was welcomed with open arms by our Lord and Savior to her Eternal Home. May God wrap His arms around all of you and give you comfort and peace.
