Shawn O'Shay Cotten Sr., a beloved husband, son, father and friend, passed away on March 10, 2014 at the age of 48 years. He is preceded in death by his father Arnell Cotten, brother-in-law Sherman Messer, and father-in-law Michael Lockhart. Survived by his wife Laura Lockhart Cotten; sons Shawn O'Shay Jr. and wife Megan Cotten; Schuyler, Dakotah and Canyon Cotten; granddaughter Kennedy Ann Cotten; mother Betty Cotten Watkins; brothers and sisters-in-law Myron and Sybil Cotten, and Greg and Bobbi Cotten; sister Chena Messer; mother-in-law Anna Lockhart; and 11 nieces and nephews. Shawn was an avid golfer who loved the outdoors. He was a generous donor of several charities and gave selflessly to everyone he knew. He was a visionary and an entrepreneur who had a larger than life personality. Shawn's giving heart, quick sense of humor, and adventurous spirit will never be forgotten. Visitation will be held at First United Pentecostal Church Denham Springs on Thursday at 4:30 pm until time of the service at 7:00 pm; interment with graveside services will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park on Friday at 10:00 am. The family request in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tupelo Children's Mansion in Tupelo, MS, or Lighthouse Ranch for Boys in Loranger, LA.
