Mary Annette Juneau passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 2:40 pm at her home in Donaldsonville surrounded by her family. She was 70 years old. She bravely faced her recent terminal diagnosis with grace and dignity and endured her brief struggle with an open and honest attitude. Although her body quickly weakened, her spirit and faith remained strong. She never complained and continued to smile. The endless stream of visitors to her home over the past week was amazing and a true testament to the kind of person Mary was and the countless lives she touched. Mary was a native of Moreauville, La and a 1961 graduate of Moreauville High School. She has been a long time resident of Donaldsonville, where she was an active member of her church and community, and participated in a weekly Rosary group. She was a long time employee of Landry Business Machines in Donaldsonville and EBS of Baton Rouge. Known for her unwavering faith in God and unconditional love of family and friends, Mary was a living example of an extraordinary Christian woman who made a difference in the lives of many with her selfless acts of kindness and her warm and generous heart. She was a true servant of God and her devotion, compassion, and commitment toward the well being of others and to those in need was heartfelt and sincere. She had a beautiful spirit, an entertaining sense of humor, and an amazing ability to see the good in everyone and make them feel loved and appreciated. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple mentality which was indicative of her country roots. Her love of "the country" especially the Moreauville area, was something she held near and dear to her heart. She enjoyed spending time at her childhood home among family and friends. Mary was an avid reader and member of a local ladies book club in Donaldsonville. She had a genuine love and affection for animals of all kinds, especially her adopted "grand dog", Lucy Lou, whom she adored. She enjoyed cooking and baking for others, and her signature gift of "pralines" will certainly be missed by many. If you were fortunate enough to have tasted one of "Miss" Mary's pralines, you have indeed experienced a little bite of heaven. Mary exemplified all that is good and right in this world. Although we are heartbroken that she will no longer walk among us, we are overjoyed that she is now reunited with her beloved son, Raphael, who left us just a few short weeks ago to be with the Lord. Together they will watch over us from heaven; two souls forever intertwined. Mary was a "real life" guardian angel whose presence will forever be missed but whose spirit and sparkle will eternally live among the hearts and minds of everyone she touched. She is survived by her husband of 51 years ,Ray, her daughter, Monique Chiasson, and her husband Jeff, her sister, Martha Marcotte Kiely, and many nieces and nephews, including a special little cousin, Seth Lemoine. She is preceded in death by her son, Raphael, her mother, Barbara Farmer Marcotte, and her father Felix Marcotte. Visitation will be Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 6:30 -9:00pm at Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville. On Monday, March 17, 2014 visitation will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Donaldsonville at 10:00am until Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00pm. Interment to follow in church mausoleum. She will be eulogized by Mr. John Beck, a long time family friend. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Sacred Heart School /Capital Campaign, P.O. Box 179, Moreauville, LA 71355. The Juneau family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the outpouring of support and love shown to them over the last month. In addition, they would like to recognize and thank the medical staff of St. Elizabeth's Hospital, especially Dr. Daria Muzychka, as well as all of the nurses and aides of St. Joseph's Hospice Care.

Mrs. Mary was such a beautiful and kind lady, she will be missed. I remember so many times talking with her. She loved baking pralines and I saw her hand deliver some to Brad Pitt on the set on a movie being shot in Donaldsonville. I remember her smile as she talked with him and his smile when receiving them. My prayers to the family.

"... a voice amonst us is still." The echoes of it,however, still heard. Especially the names of those she held close, Ray, Raphael, and Monique. I see her smile, and will always cherish the laughter we shared at the night classes we took together. Her courageous journey is to be admired, and an inspiration to us all.
