A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mrs. Steve Segura, the former Brenda Marie Babin, age 56, on Wednesday April 16, 2014 at 10:00am at St. John the Evangelist Church with Father Jody Simoneaux to serve as the officiant with musical accompaniment by Jody Bollick. Reading from sacred scripture will be Brandy St.Germain and Derek Segura. Visitation will begin on Tuesday April 15, 2014 at 10:00am and conclude at 9:00pm with a recitation of the rosary at 6:00pm. Visitation will resume on Wednesday April 16, 2014 from 8:00am until service time. A native and resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Segura passed away on Saturday April 12, 2014 at 12:15pm at a Lafayette hospital. Mrs. Segura was a school bus driver for the Glencoe Charter School for five years. Teachers and students alike will never forget the fun times had on bus "B". She was an avid outdoorswoman enjoying hunting, fishing, frogging and camping. Mrs. Segura especially enjoyed spending time at her camp at Four Bayous. Cooking brought her the most joy. She always put her family first, and loved getting the family together for meals and special events. Mrs. Segura always took care of everyone, and made everyone feel welcome and at home. She had a big heart, strong faith, and will be missed by many. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 35 years, Steve Segura; mother, Dorothy Copp Babin of Websterville; children, Jason Segura and wife Christie of Breaux Bridge, Catina Breaux and husband Ray of New Iberia, Jacob Segura and wife Ashli of Jeanerette; grandchildren, Taylor, Abbie, Logan, Braden "Peetey", Hunter, Chelsie, Sage, Caleb "Ta-Ta", Tray, Alora, Bayli, Jacob Jr." Buddy"; great grandchild, Ava; brothers, Terry Babin of Jeanerette, Ricky Babin and wife Glenda of Patoutville, Joseph Babin of Patoutville; sisters, Bernadette Derouen of Websterville, Trudy Collins and husband Tracy of Jeanerette; and her two Chihuahuas, Trixie and Peanut. She was preceded in death by her father, Harrison Babin; and brother, Euclide Babin. Serving as pallbearers are Randy "Lil Randy" Segura Jr., Ricky Babin, Clarence "Bosco" Segura Jr., Ray Breaux, Joseph "Joe-Joe" Segura, Caleb "Ta-Ta" Segura. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Randy Segura Sr., Logan Douet, Christopher Collins, Lawrence Babin, Terry Babin, Dwight Segura, and Derek Segura. The family would like to thank the Regional Medical Center of Lafayette ICU nursing staff as well as Dr. Lirtzman for the care and compassion given to Mrs. Segura.
