Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 3, 2014 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau, LA for Joseph Patrick Chavis, 58, who entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Opelousas General Hospital. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Fr. J. Lambert will conduct the Mass of Christian burial. Joseph Patrick is survived by: his mother, Isabell Randell of Sunset, LA; two sons, Jonathon Henry of Lafayette, LA and Scotty Jacobs of Church Point, LA; three brothers, Curtis Chavis (Dorothy) of Lewisburg, LA, Garvis Chavis (Evelyn) and Jerome Chavis ( Dorothy) both of Church Point, LA; four sisters, Glenda Stephens (Willie) of Opelousas, LA, Dianne Citizen (Allen) of Bellevue, LA, Debra Chavis (Allen) of Sunset, LA, and Danitra Randell (Rodney) of Arlington, TX, four grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Joseph Patrick was preceded in death by his father, Kermit Chavis, one goddaughter, Kathy Guillory, and his grandparents. Visiting hours will be observed from 9:00 AM until 12:30 PM, Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Williams Funeral Home in Opelousas. A rosary will be recited at 11:00 AM by Betty Malbrough.
