Johnnie Anderson Jones, Jr., 64, of Baton Rouge, LA, died Sunday, May 4, 2014 in York, Pennsylvania. He and his wife had journeyed to York, PA to spend the Easter holiday with their children. Johnnie is survived by his wife of 42 years Mary Louise Spand Jones, daughter Stefanie D. Jones, son Kyle S. Jones, daughter-in-law Thaisa Gee Jones, father Johnnie A. Jones, Sr., mother Sebell Elizabeth Chase Jones, brother Adair D. Jones, sisters-in-law Zavia Piper Jones and Gladys Jones Campbell, and many loving friends and extended family. Johnnie was baptized at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where he served as an altar boy for many years. A graduate of Baton Rouge High School, Johnnie also received a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University and a Juris Doctorate from the Southern University Law Center. He is a veteran of the United States Army having been awarded the Joint Service Commendation Medal and a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Beta Iota Lambda Chapter. Johnnie was an intellectually curious person, who enjoyed exploring the depths of the legal system and spent over 25 years working as a distinguished attorney in Baton Rouge. He was a member of the Louisiana Bar Association and the Baton Rouge Bar Association. Johnnie enjoyed sports, scholarly conversations, traveling, and most of all a clever joke. He loved to laugh and enjoyed making others laugh, and he LOVED to talk on the telephone to his friends and family. Services for Johnnie A. Jones, Jr. will be held Friday, May 9, 2014 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Avenue. Visitation will begin at 10:00AM with services beginning at noon. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for memorial donations to be made to the American Kidney Fund, in the name of their loving husband, father, brother, and son.
