Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Ruby B Wagner Kinard passed away June 2, 2014, at the age of 91. Born on March 23, 1923, in Longleaf, Louisiana, raised in Glenmora during her childhood years, Ruby attended Louisiana Tech, taught second grade for a brief time, and lived in California, Tennessee, Illinois, Nebraska, and Arkansas before moving to Baton Rouge where she has been a long-time resident. Ruby's proudest accomplishment has been raising five daughters and seeing their lives unfold under her guidance. An avid quilter, Ruby has shared her talents with others as she gave quilting demonstrations and stitched quilts for family, friends, and charitable organizations. She also enjoyed spending time at the beach, dancing at family weddings, shopping at garage sales, sewing clothes for her daughters, stirring up a good gumbo, square dancing, and attending church with her dearest friends. Ruby's positive attitude and sense of humor even in her last years endeared her to her caregivers, friends, and family. She is survived by her five daughters Rusha Sams (Bert) and Marsha Mitchell (Art) of Knoxville, TN; Cindy Mouch (Jim) of Decatur, AL; Dr. Brenda Kinard of St. Petersburg, FL; and Marilyn Leibenguth (Collins) of Denham Springs, LA. Also surviving are nine grandchildren Scott Sams, Jeff Sams (Andrea) of Knoxville, TN; Dr. J. B. Selecman (Audrey) of Memphis, TN; Wes Selecman (Candace) of Knoxville, TN; Rebecca Oates (Daniel) of Kyle, TX; Sarah Mouch and Kyle Mouch of Friendswood, TX; Brooke Delcambre (Judd) and Mark Leibenguth (Jenny) of Denham Springs, LA and her nine great-grandchildren: Whitley Sams; Ava and Luke Selecman; Sammye Kate, John Mark, and Andrew Selecman; Rachel and Joshua Oates; and Evan Delcambre. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Baton Rouge and Ruby's long-term caregivers for their dedication. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst East from 4:00PM to 8:00PM Thursday, June 5 with funeral service at 6:00 PM, conducted by the Rev. Dr. George Haile.
