A celebration of life will be held Saturday June 7, 2014, at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin and Castille Funeral Home for Lucille "Sis" Mouton McCarron, who peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday June 4, 2014 at her residence in Lafayette surrounded by her family. Rev. Garrett McIntyre, Associate Pastor, Our Lady of Wisdom, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the memorial services. Sis was born in New Orleans on May 23, 1927 and moved to Lafayette as a young child where she grew up. Her love for big band music and dance started as a young girl listening to 78's on her record player in the family living room. Notably, in high school her home was known as "Sis's Place". She graduated from Lafayette High School in 1944 where she served as Senior Class President. While attending SLI, she met the man of her dreams, Edward T. McCarron, Jr. who captured her heart and dancing feet. They were married on December 23, 1947. She then worked as an Executive Secretary for five years before starting their family of three children. It was common to see Sis and Ed dancing in their living room to big band music or attending the Big Band Dances. In her latter years, Sis still looked forward to the Saturday evening reruns of Lawrence Welk where she would sing and dance along with the music. That joy never left her and proved to be a blessing to all who knew her. In addition to completing 6 years of Bible Study Fellowship, Sis kept socially active by participating in a variety of activities. These included bridge clubs, the big band dance club and her long time commitment to the community organization "Les Deux Douzaines". Sis was a beautiful person inside and out. She exhibited the love of Jesus by being a selflessly devoted wife, an exceptionally loving and caring mother, a fun grandmother, a soon-to-be great grandmother and a loyal friend. She had a remarkable quality of always putting others before herself. Her lighthearted joy and unconditional love proved to be a cornerstone for her family. She will be so very sorely missed and fondly remembered by family and friends. Sis is survived by her two daughters, Katy Zaunbrecher and her husband Alan, Susan Medus and her husband, Gary; one son, Dr. Kenneth McCarron and his wife Mari; and six grandchildren, Amanda Medus Tubre and her husband Dr. Ryan Tubre, Jacob Edward Medus, Dr. Ross McCarron and his wife Aimee, Meaghan McCarron Savoy and her husband Chris, Micheal Ryan McCarron and Margaret McCarron. Sis was preceded in death by her husband, Edward T. McCarron, Jr., two brothers, James E. Mouton Sr. and Patrick E. Mouton Jr. and her parents Lucille Simon Mouton Pearson and Patrick E. Mouton Sr. The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana and nurse Iggy Landry. Also to the many sitters who cared for both Sis and Ed, a sincere thanks to Ferdie Duhon, Elaine Devillier, Agnes Kilchrist, Delores Melancon and Cathy Jackson. Visiting hours will be observed on Saturday, June 7, 2014, from 11am until time of service at the Martin & Castille Funeral Home's DOWNTOWN location.
