Rita Tortorich Simonds passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014, at Waldon Health Care at the age of 88. She was a native of New Orleans, and a resident of Metairie, La., for 57 years. Beloved wife of the late Chester F. Simonds. Caring mother of Susan E. Simonds and the late David M. Simonds. Loving grandmother of Jason M. Simonds and Justin R. Simonds. Great-grandmother of Mark and Gabriel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Annie Tortorich, brothers, Louis W. Tortorich Jr. and Frank Tortorich, and sisters, Anna Mailho, Vickie Tortorich and Theresa Graham. Survived by her sister-in-law, Shirley Smith; daughter-in-law, Judy W. Simonds; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the loving and caring staff at Waldon Health Care for taking such good care of Ms. Re Re.
