Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA for Mrs. Melinda F. Jolivette, 89, who entered eternal rest on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, LA. Interment will be held in Holy Family Catholic Church in Lawtell, LA. Father Jaison Mangalath, SVD will conduct the Mass of Christian burial. Melinda is survived by one daughter, Ramona Ruth Fruge of Opelousas, LA; two sons, Col. Gerard Jolivette (Shelia) of San Antonio, TX and Minister Faltery Jolivette (Mary Marie) of Opelousas, LA; ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Melinda was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Jerome Jolivette; her parents, Leo Fairfax and Edna Young; a son, Lionel Jolivette; a grandson, Cedric Fruge; and three brothers, Joseph Fairfax, Bertman Fairfax and RJ "Shorty" Rideaux. Visiting hours will be observed from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm Monday, July 21, 2014 at Williams Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA with the rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from 8:00 am until 12:30 pm. Share words of comfort with the Jolivette family at www.williamsfuneralhomes.net. The first and only time I got the opportunity to meet you it was a joy. You were truly a blessing on earth, and to everyone around you. You memories will live on forever In all the hearts you've touch and spirits you have lifted. May you rest in peace. My condolences goes out to Artreese Fruge and family from the Finley family. Ruth, Jerard, and Faltery Aunt Sis had a very special place in our hearts. We are deeply saddened by her passing. All of you have our condolences. We want you to know that you are in our prayers.
