Judith ("Judy") Klibert Cancienne passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014, at her home following her courageous 10-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Judy was born on July 8, 1939, in Reserve, La., to Elmore and Eugenie Klibert. She has been a resident of Baton Rouge for 52 years and an active member of St. Aloysius parish for 43 years. She was married to Robert ("Bob") Aloysius Cancienne for 54 wonderful years. Judy lived her faith and was actively involved in many roles including Eucharistic minister, marriage preparation facilitator, and CCD instructor, along with her husband Bob. She and her late husband Bob were volunteers at Mary Bird Cancer Center both before and during their treatment for cancer and receive the Mary Bird Perkins 2011 Volunteers of the Year award. Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Bob. Judy is survived by her three children, Elizabeth Thibodeaux and husband Kerry, Kenneth Cancienne and his wife Sarah, and Catherine Miller and her husband Bill, and her four grandchildren, Alyson and Lauren Cancienne, Sam Miller, and Andrew Thibodeaux. She is also survived by her three sisters, Mary Singler and her late husband Xavier, Gilda Lasseigne and her husband Albert, and Patty Clement and her husband Guy. She also has numerous nieces and nephews who she thought of and loved as her own. Judy always said she lived a blessed life, that the good Lord surrounded her with angels who embraced her with love, caring, and prayers. If you are reading this, you are probably one of those and Judy and her family thank you. Judy's faith and strength have been an inspiration to all whom she has met and all have been better for having met her. Her family would like to invite you to celebrate her life and journey to meet the Lord and the love of her life, Bob. A wake will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, Baton Rouge, on Wednesday, August 20, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. On Thursday, August 21, visitation will be held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church on 2025 Stuart Avenue, Baton Rouge, at 9:30 AM, followed by a full mass at St. Aloysius at 11:00 AM and subsequent burial at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. The family requests donations be made to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center or Cancer Services of Baton Rouge in lieu of flowers.

Judy was my mother, Elaine Catoire Miano's, first cousin. I don't think they had really seen each other in a long time, but when my mother found out she had pancreatic cancer in 2008, Judy was right there with her, helping her, encouraging her. She was an inspiration to my mother as well as myself. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing. May God wrap His arms around all of you and give you strength and peace.

I will forever, easily remember and hold dear to my heart Judy and Bob. Actually for me, they were Mr. and Mrs. Cancienne always, even for me at 51-years-old, for I am their children's contemporary. The family is one of those that impact your life in profound ways. I am most grateful to have witnessed their love for each other and thus their love for others. I will forever be inspired by Mr. and Mrs. Cancienne.

Liz, Ken, and Cathy, I knew your parents in the school year of 1978-79. They opened up their home and did a CCD class for 12th graders. It was about dating and marriage. Every week they would each take turns unfolding the events of their courtship and their walk with God. I can't remember any specific teachings or stories but, I do remember the love and acceptance expressed to all. Those feelings and thoughts have stayed with me. My prayers are with you in thankfulness for your parents and that God may comfort you all during this time of grief. Blessings!

Judy, we know that Bob is happy that you two can "cuddle" again. We miss you both. You could always make us laugh - even when we were both down. We were blessed to have you as our friends these past 50+ years. We pray for you both now - and hope you are praying for us, too.

Liz, Catherine and Kenneth. We were so sorry to hear about your mother's passing. She was such an inspiration to all who knew her. Sorry we were unable to attend the services for her but she was in our thoughts and prayers. I have had her and Bobby on my nightly prayer list since I heard about their struggles. She is with Bobby now.

I was so blessed to have met Mrs. Judy. She was a truly remarkable woman always smiling even in her most difficult times...I cannot express how much it meant to me when she took the time to talk to me when I was at my most difficult time in my life...her comforting words and soft voice...God gained another angel. You will be missed dearly...

Mrs. Judy once told me she thought God had special plans for me since I sailed through so many high school mishaps unscathed. I can only hope I met her expectations. A wonderful lady who will be dearly missed

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
