Mary Ann "Hon" Averill died at her home on December 26, 2016. She was 87. Hon is survived by her children, William Reid Averill, Jr., Deborah Ann Averill Mix, David Rex Averill and wife Roberta, and Gregory Bertoniere "Bodie" Averill. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, William Reid Averill; son, Reid James Averill; mother, Stella Major Bertoniere; father, Augustine Lelio Bertoniere; sisters, Margaret Melody Bertoniere Scheuermann and Baby Stella Bertoniere; and brother, Augustine Lelio Bertoniere, Jr. Hon was a lifelong resident of New Roads. She attended Southwest Louisiana Institute (ULL), where she met her husband Bill. She and Bill shared an extraordinary life and love for their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Hon was renowned for her cooking, particularly those delicious meat pies that she loved to share with family and friends. Hon was devoted to her husband Bill. She nursed him through his recent illness and now joins him and her beloved son Reid in eternal peace. Visitation is on Friday, December 30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 9:30 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at False River Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be William Mix, Craig Graffeo, Braeden Graffeo, George "Buzz" Scheuermann, Jerry O'Cain, Mike O'Connor, and Cole Mattox. In lieu of flowers, family asks that donations be made to Pointe Coupee Home Health and Hospice.

Rex and Family, Im so very sorry to hear of Ms. Mary Ann's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with all of your family. She was such a great friend of my mother and aunt.
