Dolie Birks was handpicked from God's garden of flowers on Friday May 12, 2017 at 2:20 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Dolie was affectionally known as "Do or Dora" by her family. She was born April 14, 1940 to the union of the late Mable and Leon Birks in Batchelor, LA. Dolie leaves to cherish her loving memories one son; Rudolph Birks, and a devoted daughter Shirley Birks-Griffin; both of Baton Rouge, LA, one sister; Louise Washington, two brothers; Roosevelt Sr. and James Birks all of Baton Rouge, LA, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dolie was a faithful member of the Greater Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Donald Ray Turner, Sr. of Baton Rouge, LA. Dolie was employed in the Culinary industry over fifty years for her love and passion of cooking. She was employed as the Head Cook of Hi Nabors Supermarket for 41 years. Religious Services; Saturday May 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at The Winnfield Funeral Home 7221 Plank Rd. Baton Rouge, LA 70811 & Dismissal following in Winnfield Memorial Gardens. Religious Services conducted by Pastor Donald Ray Turner, Sr. of The Greater Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church of Baton Rouge, LA. Viewing on Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. until religious services at 10:00 a.m. at The Winnfield Funeral Home of Baton Rouge, LA.
