Audrey, age 80, went to be with her husband in heaven on Tuesday, January 1, 2018 at her Springfield residence, surrounded by her loving family. To her family she was independent and strong and known as Maw Maw and Grandmom, but to many she was known as the secretary at Springfield High School as Mrs. Audrey. She was known for her creativity, including sewing, arts and crafts, crocheting and anything crafty with her hands; and she truly enjoyed traveling with her family. She could always be found working in her garden, meticulously researching her genealogy or working on her word search puzzles, but most importantly, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and making lasting memories with them that they will now treasure forever. She is survived by her sons, Rusty Coats and wife Karen (Hattiesburg, MS), Clay Coats (Salem, MA); daughters, Debbie Coats Johnson and husband Kenny (Springfield, LA), Cindy Coats Turnage and husband Al (Springfield, LA); grandchildren, Lesley Coats Beckworth and husband Beau (Jackson, WY), Laura Elizabeth Coats (Brandon, MS), Elizabeth Johnson Avara and husband Nathanael (Del Rio, TX), Christopher Allen Coats (Springfield, LA); brothers, Jimmy Wall and wife Glenda, Butch Wall and wife Mary; sister at heart, Odelia Coats; brothers-in-law, Johnny Coats and wife Ann, Jerry Trice, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Audrey in death were her husband, Eugene Allen Coats; parents, John Vivian Wall and Lucille Wall; brother, J V Wall; sister, Mabel Wall Yent. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, Hammond, on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Jimmy Wall will officiate the service and burial will follow in Carter Cemetery. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to North Oaks Hospice and Magnolia Senior Care and their special angel Jackie Williams, who cared for Audrey with love in her time of need. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Cru Foundation, 100 Lake Hart Drive #3600, Orlando, FL 32832, www.crufoundation.org or North Oaks Hospice. Our sympathy in the passing of Audrey. It was a pleasure to have pastored her and her family in the 1960's. Our prayers for the family.
