Bat was there for me when I needed to cuss and fuss, stayed with me for hours hanging decorations for programs, standing right beside me as we walked around WalMart with my swollen feet while shopping for 8th grade Prom.
He welcomed me into his home after only knowing me a short time, and was a friend whenever I called or when I needed him he came with no problem. I love and miss him. Bat was one of a kind!

I've been lost for words since I heard what happened. I've been hurting. Brent has been my friend since high school. He told me everything and he knew everything about me. There was never a dull moment with him. When I was going through hard times he was always there to lift me up. His jokes, his smile, his caring ways will surely be missed. Never in a million years would I think he would leave me. We always joked about our funerals but never did I want it to be this early in life. I will miss you Brent but I will never forget you. Love you always.

Brent was the closest friend I had in HS. I could talk to him about everything, vice versa. I remember the day of our graduation, where me, Brent, and our friend Val, joked & laughed about going off to college & growing up. Never would I have imagined losing him. He left a huge impact on my life and if it wasn't for him & the genuine love we shared, I wouldn't have made it through HS. #GoneButNeverForgotten

From the day I met Brent, I knew we would be friends. He was a person that could light up a room with his enthusiasm for life and learning. Brent often came to visit my kids during his planning period. They loved his visits and he loved to just watch them learn. He looked at every day as a day to learn more and try harder. Brent was a true educator and Heaven has gained a great teacher. He was loved and will be missed dearly.

Mr. Batiste was genuine and passionate. I loved when he'd venture to the other side of the school to my classroom to ask questions and vent. First year teachers are always overwhelmed and stressed, but he handled it like a champ and was always trying to improve. I was so looking forward to seeing him take on year 2. We will keep your spirit and passion alive at SPEMA. It was a treasure to have known you.

Family and Friends of Brent:
Always There
When you remember me,
Please do not weep.
My body may not be there.
It has chosen to sleep.
I'm not that far away.
My soul lives on,
Looking down, watching over
You and everyone.
And when you feel sad
And life seems so blue,
Just remember
That my spirit has its arms around you.
And on those special days,
Times that you wish I could see,
That cool breeze flowing past you...
Well, that will be me,
So don't be sad.
Have no fear.
God has taken me under his wing,
But I'll always be near.
I still watch you
Every minute, every day.
My love and soul are with you,
And that's where they will stay.
Our sincere condolences,
Carolyn Javont'e and Jada
