George Driggers Obituary

"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there ye may be also." -John 14:1-3. George Lawson Driggers Jr. passed peacefully at his Denham Springs home surrounded by his family to live forever with his Saviour, Jesus Christ, at 6:20 AM on June 14, 2018. He was 84 years old. George was born in Crowville, LA, on June 22, 1933, and graduated from Crowville High School and Louisiana College. He served with honor as a radar specialist in the US Army before settling in Denham Springs where he ran Sullivan Insurance Agency with his father-in-law and mentor John Odom Sullivan. He enjoyed fishing, Boy Scouts, and cheering on LSU and the Saints with his wife, Marilyn. George served as a deacon at First Baptist Church, was active in the Masonic Lodge and was a founding member of the Denham Springs Kiwanis Club, where he held local and national leadership positions over his half-century of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Lawson and Della Clark Driggers, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John Odom and Alice Pearce Sullivan. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn Sullivan Driggers; his four children and their spouses, John Lawson and Louise Driggers, Mary Alice and Blair Many, Marilyn Ann and Richard Mays, and David Driggers; and one grandson, Michael Pearce Many. Visitation will be held at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs, LA, on Friday, June 15, 5:00-8:00 PM with a Masonic service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Denham Springs from 9 AM until Funeral Service at 11:00 AM conducted by Dr. Leo Miller. Interment will follow at Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Lawson Driggers, David Driggers, Michael Many, Blair Many, Richard Mays, and Bruce Turner. The family wishes to thank all the healthcare workers, particularly Julie Patterson of The Hospice of Baton Rouge, and Katie Johnson, his in-home caregiver. It was George's most sincere wish that through his example, all those in his life would accept the gift of eternal salvation through Jesus Christ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
