Oren Bailess Obituary

Bailess, Oren D. "Butch" Oren D. "Butch" Bailess died on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007. Butch, a native of Vicksburg, Miss., attended Tulane University on a football scholarship, earning his civil engineering degree in 1972. An avid sportsman, excellent gourmet cook, actor and vocalist, he was president of Gulf Concrete LLC and had recently accepted the position of vice president of Dunn Investments in Birmingham, Ala. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Maddox, M.D.; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Jason S. and Kelda Bailess, Oren D. "Bucky" Bailess III and Brett A. Bailess; grandchildren, Chloe L. and Wesley O. Bailess; parents, Oren D. and Betty Ann Dement Bailess; grandmother, Ruby Wiltshire Bailess; brother and sister-in-law, Robert R. "Bobby" and Natalie Bailess; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Catherine B. and John Newton, Judy B. and George Nasif, Susan B. and Johnny Mims, and Ginger B. Richardson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Russel F. and Doris Kaiser Dement and Robert O. Bailess. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a celebration of his life at St. Timothy United Methodist Church, 335 Asbury Drive, Mandeville, at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 4. Visitation at the church after 3 p.m. Sunday. A reception to follow service. Butch was instrumental in developing the Concrete Industrial Management program at Middle Tennessee State University. Blank passed away on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, at Ochsner Medical Center-Baton Rouge. Visiting at the New St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 287 Daffidol St., Mount Airy, on Wednesday, Feb. 28, from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Gary Bolden. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted parents, Pamela and Ferrell Blank Jr.; children, Abbrielle Blank, and Troylin Jr., Malik and Brennan Bowser; and loving sisters, Dana Abreo, Danielle Oubre and Rachel Blank. She was the daughter-in-law of Rita Bowser and godchild of Debra Laiche and Johnny Lanoux. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Boudreaux, Bernadette Babin "Aunt Bernie" A homemaker and a resident of Lutcher, she died at 8:25 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at Riverland Health Care, Lutcher. She was 94 and a native of Gonzales. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Wednesday, Feb. 28, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mark Catholic Church, Gonzales, at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Joel LaBauve, celebrant. Cremation to follow. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Roline and Donald Heltz, Reserve, and Marlene and Felix Blank, Gramercy; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Noland Boudreaux and wife Peggy, Gonzales, Olan Boudreaux, Houston, Dorothy Shipley Grubbs, LaPlace, and Becky Hollingsworth Boudreaux, Houston; 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and seven stepgreat-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Nolan Joseph Boudreaux Sr.; parents, Adam and Leah Hebert Babin; son, Roland Boudreaux; daughter-in-law, Janice Debate Boudreaux; six sisters and a brother. "Billie" Brent passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007. She was born in Pemiscot County, Mo., on July 11, 1907, and was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin A. "Albert" Brent. Billie was a member of the First Baptist Church and the D.O.W./B.K. Sunday school class. Billie lived a full life of grace and kindness and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. The family would like to express their deep gratitude and love to Frances Dickerson, whose friendship and devotion to Billie has truly been a blessing. Arrangements by Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St. Cali II, Michael "Mickey" Michael "Mickey" Cali II died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at 10:33 a.m. He was the beloved son of the late Mike and Mattie Copponex Cali, brother of Jacqueline "Jackie" Crouch, uncle of Stephen Crouch, Susan Cantrelle and Julie Tortorich, and great-uncle of Joseph, Jack and Jacob Crouch and Garrett Cantrelle. He was a former owner of several Roy Rogers restaurants in the New Orleans area and was a member of the Louisiana National Guard. He was 65 and a native and resident of LaPlace. Chedraui, Johnnie Faye Rogers Johnnie Faye R. Chedraui passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, with her family by her side after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born Jan. 29, 1933, in Jackson, Miss., but was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Rene Chedraui Sr.; sons and daughters-in-law, Rene Jr. and Liz Chedraui of Watson, and Dennis and Sandra Chedraui of Hudson, N.H.; daughter and son-in-law, Eva and Ronnie Wilkinson of Watson; three grandchildren, Rene Christopher Chedraui, Brittany Chedraui and Amanda Wilkinson; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Mary Sandifer Rogers; sister, Lena Mae Forbes; and brother, Cleveland Green Rogers. She was a wonderful, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a gentle, quiet and loving person who always put the needs of others before herself. Her family and friends will deeply miss her loving presence, but are so thankful for the many years she had with us. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, was on Monday, Feb. 26, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with a wake service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church, 16166 S.
