William Legrand "Will" Steele III

William Legrand "Will" Steele III obituary, Baton Rouge, LA

William Steele Obituary

God called Will home at 6 am on Christmas Eve. Our hearts are joyful as he has received the best Christmas gift ever, eternal life with our Lord. First and foremost, Will was a disciple of Christ. He lived his faith every day to the best of his ability and God has rewarded him with "time off for good behavior." They say the quality of a man's life is not measured by the length of his life but by how deeply he has touched others during that life. More true words could not be spoken of Will's life. He will be greatly missed more than words can say by his wife of 10 years, Kerri Callen Steele and his children, Page Callen Steele, Emma Elizabeth Steele and William "Liam" Steele, IV, His parents, William "Bill" Steele, II and Cynthia Landry Steele, his sister, Jennifer Steele-Billeaud and husband, Andre' Billeaud, & his nephews, Louis' BiIleaud and Giacomo Billeaud. Preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Marvin and June Landry & Charles and Mary Steele. Additional family members, friends and others too numerous to list that were inspired by Will's life shall also miss him, his smile and his sense of humor. Will attended and graduated from Our Lady of Mercy Catholic School, Catholic High School-Class of '94, Christian Brothers University-Class of '98 and LSU. He settled in Frisco, Texas in 2005. During his life he was active in the Boy Scouts attaining the highest honor of Eagle Scout, ran Cross Country for Catholic High School and Christian Brothers University. After completing school, he remained an avid runner, competed and won numerous races in his lifetime, and was well known in the Baton Rouge running community. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church, The Vineyard Church, and Woodcreek Church in Dallas, TX. Being a self taught musician, he loved to share his musical talent in his worship at church during the last 10 years of his life. He was an avid reader, especially all things computer and began a computer workgroup in Dallas so he and others could share their knowledge. Will was recently published in a computer journal for his work and knowledge in the field. Will lost his battle with cancer but he has won the war and will spend eternity in the presence of God. He has finished the race and WON! At this time services to celebrate his new life are to be determined. Anyone interested in these future plans or where gifts may be made in his memory may contact the family at [email protected] or 225-315-8546.

Give Page and Emma a huge hug for me. Kerri, I enjoyed running in Will's run with the Curtsinger group way back when. Will is such an inspiration. I will be praying for you and your family as you continue to deal with the many emotions of your loss.

Much Love,

I am so sorry for your loss. Will was great friend and his love of the Lord was experienced by so many. I have many fond childhood memories of Will. We both ran track under Coach Pat Thomas and Pat Patterson for the Redstick Striders Track Club. Will was always "the nice kid" never putting others down and always had a smile on his face. Later on in highschool we ran cross country and track together. He worked hard at practice and could run for a long time. I am so glad to have reconnected with Will in 2010 once again we shared our love of running this time chatting on facebook. He was encouraging me as I was getting back to running after taking many years off. I couldn't exactly complain about a painful run when my friend was sick with cancer and wanting so badly to be out on the road too. Thanks Will for your inspiration and encouragement. May you be racing in heaven!

Dear friends,
I'm so sorry for your loss.
Will was a very fine young man and it is clear he was a fine son, husband, father, friend, and citizen through out his life. Also, a fine runner and that is one of the many things I'll remember about Will..
