A native of Morganza and resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 9:40 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at her residence. She was 79, a retired Practical Nurse. Visiting at Wilson-Wooddale Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 from 8 a.m. until service at 10 a.m. conducted by Bishop Eugene Harris. Interment in Southern Memorial Gardens. Survivors include her daughters, Seril G. Carroll, Corlis G. Lewis (husband, Arthur) and Tenita G. Harris, all of Baton Rouge; sons, Arthur J. Gremillion, Donald R. Gremillion and Gary G. Gremillion (wife, Muriel), all of Baton Rouge; sister, Luberdia White of Baton Rouge; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. Preceded in death by 2 sons, Alex J. Gremillion, Jr. and Terry K. Gremillion; 3 sisters, Velma St. Amant, Dorothy Jeanpierre, and Gladys Julian; 3 brothers, John Lewis, Jimmie Lewis and Samuel Lewis; her parents, Adam and Selena Lewis; and her grandmother, Ada Coates Lewis. She earned an M.A. in 1999 and a B.S. in 1997, both from Southern University. She earned a Nursing Certificate from Capital Area Vo-Tech in 1971.
