LAFAYETTE - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 24, 2014 at 11:00 am at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for Shirley Ann Sauter, 77, who passed away Friday, February 21, 2014 at AMG Specialty Hospital in Lafayette. Visitation will be observed at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette on Sunday, February 23, 2014 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm and resumes Monday, February 24, 2014 at 8:00 am until time of services. A rosary will be recited Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 7:00 pm in the chapel. Entombment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette. Rev. Richard Fabre of St. Rita Catholic Church in Catahoula, LA will officiate. Shirley was born Tuesday, May 12, 1936 in Youngsville and was a long-time resident of Acadiana. She worked as a Housewife for many years. Shirley was a member of St. Edmond's Catholic Church in Lafayette, LA. Shirley was active in her community and belonged to the Elders Society. She loved fishing, gardening and reading, as well as the embroidery of baptismal garments. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Sauter is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Franklin Sauter Sr.; two sons, Franklin Sauter, Jr. and his wife Melanie and Ricky Anthony Sauter; one sister, Myrtle Dupuis Lloyd, all of Lafayette, LA; two grandchildren, Rhyan Sauter of Lafayette, LA and Rhett Sauter of Houston, TX and one brother, Rev. Richard Fabre of Catahoula, LA. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Leopold Fabre; her mother, the former Nora Peltier; one sister, Earline Guidry and one brother Russell Fabre. Pallbearers will be Rhett Sauter, Roy Landry, Gerald Landry, Raoul Landry, Bob James, Terry Davis. Online obituary and guest book may be viewed at www.fountainmemorialfuneralhome.com.
