Major (Ret.) Kenneth Scott Murray, age 40, of Adams, Tenn., passed away on Saturday July 26, 2014 in Cheatham County, Tenn. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at First Baptist Church, 435 Madison St., Clarksville, TN 37040, in the Faith building with Michael Bayne officiating. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and also from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday at the church. Kenneth was born on October 13, 1973, in Baton Rouge, LA, the son of Kenneth Murray and Lorry Marler Ambrose. He is a former professor at Austin Peay State University and a member of Grace Community Church and the Downtown Clarksville Rotary Club. He belonged to several organizations such as Community Action Board, Clarksville Young Professionals, AUSA, National Association of Social Workers, and a lifetime member of Nightstalker Association. His military achievements include serving as a medic with the 160th SOAR, multiple combat deployments, and graduating in the inaugural class of the Army Fayetteville State University Master of Social Work Program. His military decorations include the Bronze Star with 2 oak leaf clusters and the Combat Medic Badge. He is survived by his wife, Maj. Teresa Nefflen Murray, of Adams, TN; sons, Brandon Murray of Baton Rouge, LA, and Lucas Murray of Adams, TN; daughters, Brooke Wilkes of Lafayette, LA. and Amelia Murray of Adams, TN; parents, Kenneth (Ginger) Murray of Walker, LA. and Lorry Marler (Tommy) Ambrose of Zwolle, LA; brothers, Kevin Murray of Denham Springs, LA. and Kerry Murray of Texarkana, TX; aunt, Vernell Murray of Adams; also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Community Church, 1716 Memorial Drive, Clarksville, TN 37040. Hey man, Aunt Marjorie, will forever be at a loss. You know why I am stuck here but son l will be present when you are lain by your Brothers in Arlington with Full military honors. I said they would see that it happen, even though you didn't think yourself worthy. You made a difference to so many people. They just need to read the testimonts given about and to you.
