Sidney Roy Obituary

Sidney Dell Roy (uncle Sid) was born on 11 April 1921 to the union of Joseph Clement Alfred Raphael Roy and Amanda Louise Patin Roy. He passed away 2 March 2018 at the age of 96. He is survived by sisters Marie Burroughs and Anna Lou Davis and brother Robert Earl Roy. Preceding him in death were his parents, sisters Isabelle Roy Stenger, Theresa Roy Seiler, Marjorie Roy, and brothers Raphael Waldo Roy, Clement B. "Bert" Roy, and Lynwood Jerome Roy. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, Council 2807. A veteran of WWII, he served in the U.S. Navy. When asked if he had any children he would laugh and say, "No, but I raised 25 nieces and nephews!" He loved sports and was an avid LSU fan. His passion was fishing, both fresh and saltwater. He made numerous trips to Grand Isle and Alaska with family. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East Thursday March 8, 2018 from 5pm to 9pm and continuing Friday March 9, 2018 from 9am until Chapel Service at 11am officiated by Father Clifton Hill. Interment immediately following in Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Lynn Roy, Paul Roy, Jerry Davis, Brian Davis, William "Rusty" Burroughs, and Bradley LeRay. Honorary Pallbearer is Raphael "Ray" Roy. Condolences may be made at www. rabenhorst.com.

Dear Marie, Lou and Paul, I am so sorry to learn of Sidney's death. I wish I could be with you but I a limited in my activities. I had a heart attack last month and am still in cardiac therapy. You have my deepest sympathy. He will be missed. Much love, Peggy
