A loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she went to rest in peace with the Lord on Thursday, November 1, 2012. She was 84. She was a beautiful, loving and generous person. She was devoted to her family and always subordinated her needs to those she loved. She was a native of St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from Grover Cleveland High School. She moved to New Orleans as a young lady with her family. She worked in New Orleans at The California Co. as a secretary and met her husband, Philip, there. She loved to bowl and was a member of a bowling team for many years in Kenner. She was extremely generous and always gave of herself when someone was in need. She volunteered at East Jefferson Hospital when her children were grown. She traveled extensively with her husband of 50 years and saw the world. She enjoyed fine food and travel, but mostly she enjoyed her family. She loved baseball and was a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals since she was a very young girl. She moved to Baton Rouge in 1994 to be closer to her grandchildren and was a very compassionate and loving grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband, Philip Allen Grove and her brother Richard Holman and sister, Darlene Holman Poepping. She is survived by her son, Brian Allen Grove and his wife Charlotte Sunderland Grove, and her daughter, Stacy Grove Butler and her husband, Brian Butler; her sister, Shirley Wulf; her five grandchildren, Philip Grove, Elisabeth Butler, Laura Grove, Brandon Butler, Emily Grove and Colin Sunderland. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at The Haven at Windermere for their constant care for the last two years. The family is especially grateful to her caregivers Ronnica, Dee, Loretta, Barbara, Gwen, Carlette and Regina for making her last days so comfortable and peaceful.
