Kathleen Delaune Obituary

Kathleen Jones Delaune passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, December 8th, 2012. She was 82 years of age and a native and resident of Baton Rouge. She was the daughter of Joseph Thomas Jones and Julia Robertson Jones. She was born on December 31st, 1929. She graduated high school from St. Joseph's Academy and attended Louisiana State University. She married Lawrence Joseph Delaune on July 2nd, 1949. She was a dedicated teacher at her preschool, La Premiere Ecole, for 26 years, worked diligently with the Food bank at Sacred Heart Church and tended to the poor, sick and displaced. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Joseph Thomas Jones, Jr., sister, Alice Jones Tini, brother-in-law, John Tini, and son-in-law, Harold Reeves, Jr. She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Lawrence Joseph Delaune, Sr. and her daughters, Kathleen (Kitty) Heidingsfelder, Elizabeth (Judy) Reeves, Margaret (Muffin) Smith, her husband, Daniel Joseph Smith, and her son, Lawrence (Joey) Joseph Delaune, Jr., his wife, Katy Powell Delaune, and her sister-in-law, Mary Helen Potts Jones. "Boo" will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: John Heidingfelder, Jr., Eric Reeves, Lauren H. Birch, Jared Reeves, Jennifer H. Traore', Chrysta R. Cox, Patrick Reeves, Sarah R. Brown, Jeanie S. Robert, Kathie Smith, Danny Smith, Bobby Smith, Audrey Delaune, Sammy Smith, and many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, on Thursday, December 13th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, with the Rosary at 7:00pm. Visitation will resume on Friday December 14th at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2250 Main Street at 9:00am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Joseph's Academy and Catholic High School. Sign the online condolence book at www.Rabenhorst.com.
