Charles K. "Kenneth" Irby

Charles Irby Obituary

A native of Bogalusa and resident of Watson, he died Thursday, May 2, 2013. He was 79, a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was retired from Sears & Roebuck. Visiting at First United Pentecostal Church in Denham Springs on Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 4 p.m. until service at 6 p.m. conducted by Rev. Ray Johnson and Rev. Shannon Pennington. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park on Monday, May 6 at noon. Survivors include his wife, Jewell Pennington Irby; daughter, Sheril and Pat Curry; step-daughter, Julie Torkelson; sons, Ken Irby, and Danny and Tina Irby; step-son, Rev. Shannon and Dina Pennington, and Anthony and Andrea Pennington; sisters, Shirley Artique and Gloria Simmons; grandchildren, Andrew and Katelin Curry, Taylor Curry, Kadi and Jennifer Irby; and step-grandchildren, Laura, Jana, Alaina Grace, Annakate Pennington and Jackline Torkelson. Preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Thelma Irby; first wife, Peggy Wolsefer Irby; and son, Ira Irby. He graduated from Baton Rouge High School. Thanks to his friend Capt. Gene Cobb, with whom he served in his 25 years of service with the EBRP Sheriff's Reserve.

I am so very sorry to hear that Uncle Ken has passed. He is with God now & all his loved ones that have gone before him. He is with my paw paw and they are looking for something to get into. I am so sorry that I can't be there but know that you all are in my prayers & I love you all!!!!!

I grew up with "Kenneth". He was the kindest person. He did love God and was faithful in church. May god bless the family and help them grow stronger because of God's love and mercy. Kenneth will be missed greatly.
