Trusting in God's promise, "The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord," Romans 6:23b, our precious Shelley "Belle" entered heaven on July 1, 2013. Shelley Anne Baker was 25 years old, born on February 6, 1988 to Steve and Kim (Cox) Baker. She grew up in Baton Rouge, attended Family Christian Academy, and was a 2006 graduate of Christian Life Academy. She is survived by her parents, Steve and Kim; brothers, Allen and Todd Baker; her grandmother, Charlene Dorman Cox; grandfather, Glenn Baker; aunts and uncles, Susan Fontenot, Randy Cox (Becky), Tim Cox (Jonna), and Barry Baker; as well as many beloved cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ira Leroy "Paw Cox" and Bertha Jane Baker; and her sweet cousin, Bryson Fontenot. Shelley attended church with her family at Community Bible Church in Baton Rouge. She will always be remembered for her bright smile, her beautiful eyes, her nurturing personality, and her boundless love for family and friends. Shelley's greatest desire was to live a life pleasing to her Savior Jesus Christ. "From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus." II Timothy 3:15. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 4, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, LA. Visitation will continue on Friday, July 5, 2013 at Community Bible Church, 8354 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, LA starting at 9:00 am until services at 11:00 am. Dr. Steve Foster will conduct the funeral service. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Please visit www.resthavenbatonrouge.com to sign the online guestbook.

Kim and Steve. I think of your family from time to time and I marvel at the strength you guys have. I'm sure you have your bad days. I still get teary eyed when I think about the phone call we got when our son was injured in the war. Your families testimony over the many years had help mold me to the man I always wanted to be.

Can you hear them? Can you hear them as they pass by, whispering on the wind? Can you feel them, feel their warmth, when they draw near, standing just beside you? They are the ones who have gone before, the saints who have touched our lives, whose memories shape us still. They are the family to which we each belong, ancient and never ending. Our ancestors watch over us, their constant vigil keeping. Their wisdom and care surrounds us, a river of healing flowing just beneath the sands of time. Can you hear them? They speak of a love they have seen, love beyond imagining, a love that holds us safe, until we rise to meet them."

May precious Shelley rest in peace and rise in glory.

To all of Shelley's Family...
I keep hoping that the right words will come but words fail me. Shelley held a special place in my heart. I cannot begin to imagine your feeling of emptiness right now. I pray that over time our Lord will refill your cup and overflow it with joy the way Shelley would want you to know it. One thing is certain, HE is our Hope. And I know He didn't fail Shelley. I look for the day when I can share the Joy she now knows with our Savior! Until then, I will pray we will lean on His Word and trust in His Promises.
"...Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength." Nehemiah 8:10 NIV

"Therefore, we are always confident, knowing that, while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:6-8.
Our beautiful Shelley is not lost to us, we know exactly where she is. "So, when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory. I Corinthians 15: 54-55. In the days ahead as you miss her earthly presence may the truth of God's promises encourage you and give you strength.

Words can't express how heartbroken for you all. I know what Shelley Belle ment to each and every one of you. Your families love is stronger than any other. I will never forget the family dinners, late night movies and having to rush the minivan home in time for Mrs. Kim to get to Bible study in time. I hope you all stay strong and know that she is in a good place in the hands of the Lord.
